The things you can do with a Ventrac Compact Tractor. There are multiple attachments for doing everything from golf course maintenance, to light grading for pre-construction. Yet, sometimes it’s fun to test the limits of these light tractors, as you will see later. To do that, you have to think outside of the box a bit. That’s not unusual for farm life, though. As a farmer, there are all sorts of things you have to contend with between managing livestock and your prize crops.
The tractor becomes a multi-tool of sorts, coming in more handy than a Swiss Army knife. It can get you in and out of just about any situation, even those that involve pumpkins that weigh almost half a ton. That’s right my friend, I said half a ton. This pumpkin is almost 1,000 pounds. That’s no front porch jack-o’-lantern. This was obviously a contest gourd, entered into competition at a fair to grab the top prize for weight.
Whether or not the pumpkin got the blue ribbon, we don’t know. What we do know, though, is you can make light work of disposing it if you have a Ventrac compact tractor, and a couple of handy attachments. All you have to do is find one that works. Ventrac offers more than 30 different attachments for their compact tractor.

You can mow grass, blow leaves, chip wood, and even vacuum your lawn if you have the proper attachment. This is why they have been so widely embraced in the marketplace. The tractors are extremely versatile. The company has always operated with diversity and versatility in mind.
From its humble beginnings with the Steiner brothers in the mid-70s, the starter corporation grew into three different marketing divisions. They had three separate outfits for agricultural products, turf maintenance, and machine repair. After one division was sold off in the late 80s to an English agricultural corporation, the company diversified again and focused on creating equipment for those who were physically impaired. Then the company came full circle back to its roots with the Ventrac compact tractor.
That was the final product branch off, and it took over the market. However, staying true to form, this tractor would be very diverse and versatile, ultimately including a separate line of over 30 different attachments. They can be used for golf courses, nurseries, landscaping companies, and even applications for locations like shopping malls and churches. It seems that where there is a Ventrac, there is a way… you just have to find the right attachment to make working easier.
Yeah, But Does it Work on Pumpkins?
This bring us full circle to the subject at hand of how to dispose of a half ton pumpkin. Remember when I talked about thinking outside of the box just a minute ago? Well, the–what shall I call him, “pumpkin disposal specialist,”–, does just that. Of all the attachments to choose from, he uses a snow blower attachment to do the deed. He begins with some light prep work on a few smaller pumpkins (and to think, you thought it was just used for chucking snow). Then it moves quickly into the land of horrifying. The way that snow blower attachment chews a pumpkin makes the hair on your arms stand up. I guess it only follows suit that one would think outside of the box, like the Steiner brothers did when they originally founded the corporation, and try to come up with a creative way to dispose of a prize winning pumpkin. Most of the time, after weigh-ins at county fairs, these giant gourds are given a proper burial by being put to good use. The owners either harvest seeds for later production, use the meat to make food, or even carve them up and hollow them out to race in a pumpkin regatta. That’s right folks, they have a pumpkin boat race in Maine after the fair is over. Though it sounds a little odd, if you’re like me, you would want to give it a try just for the sake of sheer curiosity, because it sounds like a blast! Unfortunately we don’t have footage of that as well. This half ton monster will not be winning any boat races any time soon. I’m sure you will still walk away with a smile, though. Normally, I would say the pumpkin wins, just based on sheer size, because you have to actually be able to fit a 1000 pound pumpkin into a snow blower to get it to chip up. However, remember this is not your average tractor. This is a Ventrac. You have options.
